Join us this April for MUNI's very first Ad-Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General, featuring both GA and crisis elements and presented in a double delegation format to challenge advanced delegates to balance teamwork with debate strategy.
This committee is intended for delegates with experience competing in both General Assembly and Crisis committees, and will require delegates to think on their feet and have strong writing and debate skills. Although prior experience is a recommendation rather than a requirement, we do ask that delegates take the time to understand these committee types prior to MUNI XXVII- whether in-house with their advisor or by emailing either the Secretary-General or committee director! We are beyond happy to help prepare delegates for the structural procedure of both committee types and welcome all inquiries on how to best prepare.
Delegates will receive multiple clues as to the committee topic as we get closer to MUNI; during Committee Session I the topic and background guide will be provided and delegates will have a 30 minute strategy period with their delegation partner before formal debate opens. The dias simultaneously recognizes and endorses the challenge of such a brief preparatory period; the selected topic will be compatible with quick research in a manner that will allow delegates to smoothly transition to debate.
As previously mentioned, this committee will utilize both General Assembly and Crisis elements; as such delegates should be well-versed or familiar with aspects of working papers, presentations, amendment writing, sponsorship and collaboration, directive writing, merging, crisis notes, and timed crisis. Any questions about how to best prepare can be directed to the dias:
